Playing Responsibly
For most of us, playing prize competitions online is just a bit of fun that we can enjoy anytime, but a small number of players might be too young or might have let playing online become the main focus in their life. As the organiser of prize competitions, Skill Contest is committed to ensuring all members play responsibly.

Underage players

Skill Contest does not allow anyone under the age of 18 to register and play in any its prize competitions. Our competitions are not designed to attract children or adolescents. We actively discourage and track persons under the age of 18 who attempt to play at Skill Contest.

We use sophisticated verification systems which can identify minors who log in to our website. Every time we pick a winner for a competition, we ask proof of identification before sending any prize. Should the winner of one of our competitions be under 18, we will not deliver the prize and pick another winner instead.

Nevertheless, we recognize that the internet is readily accessible in many homes around the world. As a result, together with parents we must work to protect children from playing underage. To ensure the safety of your children, we recommend installing filtering software to block minors from accessing certain websites and programs. Here are some useful tips for parents:

  • Do not leave children unattended near your computer when logged into Skill Contest;
  • Do not allow persons under 18 to play with you on Skill Contest;
  • Keep your Skill Contest username, password and deposit method details out of the reach of children, including any emails we could have sent you with these details;
  • Educate your children about the potential damage of playing prize competitions underage;
  • Limit the length of time your children spend online;
  • Do not use the 'Save Password' option on login screens;
  • Create separate profiles for everyone who uses your computer, so that nobody else can access your information;
  • Use child protection software, such as Cyberpatrol, to block Skill Contest from under-18s.

Unfortunately, no system is foolproof. If you know a person under the age of 18 who is registered with Skill Contest using false details, please notify our team at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Preventing compulsive players

We recognise that while most people play for entertainment, a small number of people can become obsessed with the potential prizes featured in our competitions. Even though studies suggest that only a very small percentage of the adult population encounters this kind of compulsive behaviour, we take this matter very seriously and have implemented a number of measures to address this problem:

  1. We feature daily rankings, to ensure players pace themselves and don't buy too many tickets at a time;
  2. We limit the maximum amount of credit any player can buy to £1,000 equivalent per 24 hours;
  3. No player can buy more than 30% of the tickets in any competition;
  4. Our team are trained to recognise and act accordingly when they identify compulsive playing;

Some useful tips when playing

  • Playing prize competitions is a form of entertainment. It is not a way to get rich quickly and pay off your debts;
  • Players of many different skill sets can join in a competition and there are no formulas that guarantee you will win;
  • Make sure that the decision to play on Skill Contest is your choice;
  • Only buy as much credit as you can afford to lose;
  • Try to take your time and evaluate where you stand in rankings before playing again, to make sure you use your credit wisely and adjust your gameplay;
  • If you do not seem to progress in the rankings of a competition despite playing again, try to reassess your position and don’t persist in buying more tickets to try to regain your position at all cost;
  • Check the amounts you spend on a regular basis. Every time you buy credit on Skill Contest, we send you a confirmation email. We recommend you keep these emails and track what you’re spending;
  • Make sure you read the rules of the game and the details of each competition in detail before playing.

Monitor your own behaviour

Like many things, what is fun and enjoyable in moderation can become a problem in excess. If you suspect that you may have a problem with playing too much or you want to know more about the signs of compulsive behaviour, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is playing on Skill Contest interfering with your work or other responsibilities?
  • Has playing prize competitions ever made your home life unhappy?
  • Are you trying to make up for having bought many tickets in the past?
  • Are you recovering from an addictive disorder?
  • Do you play on Skill Contest under the influence of alcohol or other influences?
  • Do you play prize competitions to pay debts or solve financial difficulties?
  • If you didn’t win a competition, do you feel you need to play again to try to make up for what you’ve lost?
  • After a win, do you have a strong urge to try to win more?
  • Do you every buy credit until all your money has gone?
  • Have you ever lied, borrowed, sold or stolen anything to finance playing on Skill Contest?
  • Do you prefer to play prize competitions than spend time with your family and friends?
  • Are you reluctant to use money you’ve set aside for playing prize competitions for normal expenditures?
  • Have you ever played online to escape worry, trouble or boredom?
  • Does playing prize competitions cause you to have difficulty in sleeping?
  • Do you ever have an urge to celebrate any good fortune with a few hours of playing prize competitions?
  • Do you ever feel depressed or consider harming yourself as a result of playing too much?

People with a compulsive problem are likely to answer 'yes' to some of these questions. If so, we recommend that you take time off from playing Skill Contest, consider closing your account and seek professional help.

Set yourself playing limits

We believe it’s important for players to control the amount of money they use to play competitions on Skill Contest. We encourage you to evaluate regularly how much you spend and to track your playing patterns:

  1. Establish how much you would like to spend in total before playing any competition;
  2. Note how often you play;
  3. Note how long you play during each session on Skill Contest.

Use your answers to determine how much you would like to allow yourself to spend per day, per week or per month.
